r a n k e d - college, very very very thankfully. and barely.
t e r m - sophomore year of college - skipped a year to get a band together.
c a r e e r - musician. and, surprisingly, pretty successful.

the smoke sank into my skin

h a i r - being the musician he is - there is always something going on. no, not colorwise, really. and not professionally, either. bedhead hair is the constant thing with him, get up and go. if it's too out of control? stick a gray beanie over it, it'll cover. most of the time it's fine though. and hey, people dig it. an ashy brown throughout, smoked in on top from sunlight and natural highlights and low lights. unlike his faceclaim - he does not dye it, it stays its dark brown. thick, which helps the bedhair effect. no, not that he actually claims that it is "bed" hair. it is what it is, and he doesn't really care to fix it in the morning.
e y e s - brown. plain, simple, nothing-special-or-amazing brown. Not some extravagant blue or brilliant shade of green - a casual, relaxed average color. Normally tired, but not in a grouchy or depressed way.
b u i l d - leaning definitely on the tall side - but not what you'd call lanky or awkward. he fits his height well. works out regularly, so he's earned and stayed skinny - in the healthy term of it. doesn't mean he doesn't win the next hamburger-eating contest, but then again, doesn't mean he's eating junk food 24/7. average proportions to his somewhat-above-normal-but-not-uncommon height. not that he's above boasting his fit stomach, though. hey, the pretty-boys got it going for him.
v o c a l s - a rough, at times raspy toned voice, not high for a guy, but definitely not low. no real exact way to describe it unless you'd heard it. the sound - as described earlier - is raspier, only because of his career as a musician. if you're pulling concerts every other night, your voice isn't always going to be perfect, gotta save it for the singing right? not that he cares that much.
m o v e m e n t s / f e e l - alex is slow. slow, slow, slow. why is alex slow, you wonder? because alex has decided that there is nothing in life to hurry for unless it threatens his very existence. yeah, so occasionally he's a hypocrite and being late for band practice is enough of a threat to existence to wake the guy up, but most of the time, he's a snail. taking time to go his own way, lean where you gotta lean, fall where you gotta fall, stand where you gotta stand. he's not slow in the literal sense that he walks slow - he's got a normal speed of a gait. laid back sense of movement. just hanging out with him can mellow out your mood - of course, unless he's losing his temper.
s t y l e - well, to be as honest as possible, alex does care about what he wears, but not in the sense you'd probably think if you read this. he wouldn't just throw on some army print shirt, running sneakers, and booty shorts. but, he doesn't sit there and shop really. he knows what he likes, and gets it. a lot of things he will wear just to make people laugh, though - like a sombrero to class, or giant goggles. but if he was being serious - pants, cliff-hanger key chain always attached to the belt look so he always has keys with him. Fleece hoodies, leather once-in-a-while over them. Flannels are more often seen than not, and never brightly outrageous colors. he's somewhat famous for his gray beanie.
a t t r i b u t e s - he does not have any current piercings. in the past, he had his lip pierced for a dare - but there was never jewelry involved, just a fish hook, and it was taken out within 24 hours (and a trip to the emergency room). tattooed on the back of his hand in tiny, tiny writing hard to even see by his thumb says "hand" - in case he ever got Alzheimer and couldn't remember what his hand was. also a dare, and was definitely not sober.

s m o k e ? yes, or at least tried it. sometimes socially he will have a clove, cigar or the occasional cigarette, but not much other than that.
a l c o h o l ? frequently. he used to drink more, though. now its just at parties or hanging out in groups of friends. this doesn't mean that he aaaaalways gets drunk, though he does get wasted. he drinks a beer or two with his buddies normally and just gets that buzz, and nothing more. it's really the major parties where everyone is drinking that he does. no, it's not because he's weak to peer pressure like adults call it. it's because it's fuckin' fun.
v i r g i n ? definitely not - lost virginity to first girlfriend at 13, way young, right? first guy in his grade to lose his virginity, he got upped in popularity. regrettable.
d r u g s ? tried LSD and pot before at parties - not his cup of tea. he doesn't like the high, and doesn't like the hallucinations. he prefers alcohol if anything.
s e x u a l i t y ? questionable - he's only dated girls though.

s e c r e t s - mainly his "great escape". from a family of 6 other brothers, he was the youngest. his parents didn't give him a lot of attention, and just wanted him to get out of their hair. he hightailed it out of there after stealing their van, and never returned back to oregon. other secret is his questionable sexuality - he'd never felt a full on attraction to guys, but lots of bad girlfriends made him questionable.
a m b i t i o n s - wants his band to get famous - travel, go on tour world-wide, get no sleep, and party it up the entire way. no intentions of settling. those are long term ambitions, however. closer more reasonable ones: graduate college, go to as many parties as college could supply - okay, maybe not that many - get some more sleep, get ex-girlfriends out of his hair, get a new car - the van being a piece of shit. maybe go on tour with the band.

we talked all night

s t o r y - like everyone else in the world, he has an explanation for his being in the world. basically a religious but lenient family. father catholic, mother christian. their beliefs clashed, and church was only mandatory for the first few years of alex's young life - the years he was too young to remember. he grew up in oregon of all the places in the world. he had six other siblings, all brothers, always some sort of conflict. as the seventh child, you could imagine how sick of kids his parents were. they'd decided no more kids after the second kid, and then they had their third. and fourth. and fifth. and sixth. and finally, seventh. you'd think that alex's mom would have gotten her tubes tied, but no. they were at least hoping for a girl. but alex didn't get any grief for being an accident - he wasn't treated with any extra love, somewhat neglected, but overall an okay-upbringing. since it was so chaotic back at home, he got out as much as possible. he easily made friends and would stay at their house for as long as possible. finally, alex got older, and turned 16. at that age, his parents were so sick of kids that they were constantly in bad moods and never wanted to hear from him. fights were constant, and he got sick of it - he left. he stole the family van, and drove down to california with a bunch of guy friends he was in a newly formed band. there in california, he continued high school living with a friend and his aunt, and graduated without his parents ever finding him. soon his band began getting somewhat of a name - no hit brittney spears status, but they were getting known. he continued with the band, releasing an album that actually got popular. he toured for a year, missing out on his first year of college, then returned to continue his education before going on tour again. so, here he is - mr shaw.
