"Let's get comfortable. You got a nickname I can call you?"
Look, my first name is only two syllables. It's not hard to pronounce. So no, I don't have any 'nicknames'. Ruby is fine.
"'S cute. Mind if I just call you babe? Cool. So, babe, what's cooking - for those just listening?"
Don't call me 'babe', it's degrading. I'm not a pig or a baby, got it?
Urg, fine. You're still expecting me to answer. Well, as you can see I'm short and lean. I can't help the short bit and I have no idea why I'm thin, since I eat like crazy. Must have won the genetic lottery, eh? Anyway, I have thick black hair and dark, almond shaped eyes. I wear makeup for fun, unless I'm buried in assignments and exams. I don't know what else to say about how I look. It feels so narcissistic... besides, I'm right in front of you. You can see what I look like. Actually, don't look at me, weird 'babe' person.
Fine, okay. In terms of style I'm a bit all over the place. I like being eclectic. Mostly I get my clothes from thrift stores, so piecing together outfits can be interesting. I usually just wear all black or throw together someone obnoxiously colourful. Yeah, I don't know what to call my 'style', or lack thereof, either.
"Cute. Wore that just for me, huh? Speaking of which, give me the details. Gay? Straight? Look kinda like a swinger to me.. Care for a drink or a smoke, babe?"
Cute? Did you just call me cute and ask my sexual orientation? Not only is that none of your business, but this interview has become borderline harassment. And people say that feminism is unnecessary in the modern world.
Look, I'm bisexual... like most other people in the world that aren't a 0, 6, or X on the Kinsey Scale. Sexuality is, for the most part, fluid and it doesn't matter. But just because I'm bi doesn't mean I'm sexually promiscuous, and it certainly doesn't mean that I'm interested in you. I'm quite capable of monogamy, thanks.
As for drugs - are you serious? That can totally mess with your brain, and, quite frankly, my brain is all that I really have to rely upon in life. It's the reason I got into college. I'm not going to give it up just to seem cool in front of a bunch of try hard whacked out idiots. I don't smoke either. In case you didn't notice, that stuff gives you cancer. But yeah, as for drinking, I do drink socially. Man, I love vodka.
"Damn. Get some! ha! Chill out. So, swear this won't get leaked anywhere but.. got any secrets? Come on, you can tell me!"
You're an idiot, you know that?
Really, I don't have any secrets. I'm private person, but I don't have anything to hide. I guess the fact that I'm bi counts as a 'secret', since I don't announce it to the world and tattoo it upon my forehead.
Wait... You want one of those deep, dark type secrets, yeah? Uh, let me think... When I was in Third Grade I cheated on a Math exam and last year, when my boyfriend at the time broke up with me, I switched off the electricity in his apartment. It was great, he couldn't figure out how to get it back on for days. He deserved it, that cheating motherf---
"..Ouch. Okay, don't be so cold kid. There's always a way out of shit like that. Got any ambitions, babe?"
I'm studying literature right now and I want to go into teaching in the short term. My long term plan, however, is to eventually become a Professor at Balston. Some people say I should set the bar higher and try for Luxton, but they're no smarter than us and I'd prefer to teach people from lower socioeconomic backgrounds.
"Okay, okay. Don't get too excited. Half those are just hearing about you. Now let's see.. Oh, here we go. Tell me a bit about yourself. Likes, dislikes, strengths and weaknesses - all that. We need some dirt!"
Fine, let's just get through this. I like reading, writing, listening to good music, finding awesome stuff at thrift stores, and going out with my friends. Yeah, I don't care if that's generic, it's what I genuinely like. I dislike people who are obsessed with being 'cool' and who like to get ahead by stepping on little people. Or should I say I just dislike students at Luxton? I guess it's the same thing, huh?
As for strengths, I can study like crazy. Usually I can make fun of people without them realising it and I'm cool with speaking in public. I'm super loyal to my friends, and uh... Yeah, I can't think of anything else. Weaknesses are always easier to list. So, uh, I tend to speak before I think, get irritated to quickly, and sometimes have this passive-aggressive thing going on. Even though I'm quite driven and focused, I'm awful with time management. It's a normal thing for me to stay up all night just to finish assignments. At those times, coffee is my best friend.
"Kinky, ha! Couldn't agree more. 'Nyways, one last thing. How'd you get where you are today?"
Only you would find coffee, of all things, kinky.
Am I meant to answer that question is some sort of motivational way? Because that isn't going to happen. I had a really normal childhood - well, it was normal for where I grew up. My mother raised me by herself for seven years. She had absolutely no support from my birth father, who, by the way, I've never been able to track down. It's nothing I'm ashamed of, I just wish I knew more about my ethnic background, my history, and any diseases that could be genetic. I'm actually thinking of using the internet to track down my birth father, though I'd never call him 'Dad' or anything. That would just be weird, since I've already got a Dad.
My mother was married, when I was eight, to her best friend from High School. He was my godfather and I used to call him 'Uncle Joseph', but now I just call him Dad. Dad's always been around, ever since I was born. Though my mother struggled with looking after me, since she was only like seventeen when I was born, Dad would always rush around and help her whenever she asked... Though, she didn't like to ask people for help, since she's so stubborn. Most people say I inherited that trait from her.
Uh, anyway... My story is a basic one. My parents got married, I went to school, and I played soccer on weekends. We were always poor, but I never realised that growing up. I was always out on the street playing with other kids who didn't have much either... So it really didn't matter that I never had all the latest and greatest toys. When I was thirteen, Mum and Dad had my little sister, Lucy Anneliese. We were financially a bit better off then, so Lucy grew up a lot more spoiled than what I was. It's weird too, I mean, I know Dad loves me but he's got a really good connection with Lucy. It might be because she's a lot more like my Mum, yet mostly I think it's because she's his biological daughter.
By the time I was in High School, I'd become uber competitive about my marks. It was my life dream to make it to University. This was a bit daunting, since no one in my family had even graduated from High School before. Everyone was really supportive though, and I after a lot of hard work I was accepted into Balston. And here I am now, being interviewed by you. So yeah.
"Shiiit. Well at least you got yourself babe, can't take that away. And me. -winks- What I'm joking! Kind of. Anyways, relax while we evaluate you, get you into your place, alright? Also, we can't even accept you if your faceclaim has not been posted yet. Post in the faceclaim = your ticket to acceptance. Other than.. you know. Being accepted. A'ight, I'm out - peace."

about you!
Lolly is my alias online. It's my nickname, however, and I'm normally called Lola. I'm Australian. I'm nineteen now and I used to roleplay back when I was fourteen/fifteen. I've only just gotten back into role playing, and have been active on RP boards since about mid-December last year. I found this site because it's affiliated with another forum I'm on :D. Also, being Australian, I'm not really sure how this whole 'freshman/sophomore/junior/senior' thing works. Sorry if I've put Ruby in the wrong category.
