Two RIVAL colleges are built within the city of Outlier. There is Luxford University and Balston University.
Luxford University has a reputation for being spoiled, bratty, and snobby (though not all, the vast majority seem to be). People usually assume this about Luxford students simply because most students that attend Luxford paid their way into the school due to their wealthy upbringing. The campus itself is extremely well made and the school overall promises a wonderful career ahead of every student. As the name shows, it's a luxury to be there. They've heard an endless supply of names, one of them being 'luxfux'. Students here are often seen walking down the hall in the priciest apparel - ranging from Chanel sunglasses to Marc Jacob's newest shoes. Along with that high-fashioned outfit often comes an equally high nose in the air. Of course, that is simply the true stereo type.
Balston University is known to be grungier simply because it can't afford all the fancy things that Luxford has. The construction of the campus isn't as wonderfully made as Luxford's, but it still works just as well as any other college.. it just isn't at the top of the list. Most students who attend Balston have worked their tails off to get there (are just as smart!) and simply can't afford to attend a place such as Luxford. What's the common name they get from Luxford? No-Balls-Balston. Horrible, right? But at least they are known to working to where they want to go, rather than paying their way through life. Just because these students aren't driving down the street in their new shining Porsche does not however mean they don't pave their way in style. The kids of Balston are known as more independent, and very creative - and most of the time accepting of others - underlining most of the time. You do not want to mess with some of these kids, they will not take your shit.

In basic, Luxford can afford the nice BMW's and Corevette's. It's not that Balston is exactly poor, they just don't have that.. lovely luxury. Luxford is upper class, while Balston is lower to mainly middle class.

Also, remember that these two colleges are RIVALS. They do NOT like each other. They hate each other. (And none of those cheesy 'i love you even though we're in different colleges' stuff, please.) Violence occurs. But, realize this isn't World War and we aren't dropping bombs on each other, however there are hate crimes that occur. Violence is not tolerated by either college and will lead to the students being suspended or kicked out of the school if it occurs on school grounds. In basic, most violence occurs outside of school, if it IS to occur. Just, remember, please please please be realistic. Your character must have motives, reasons, something, behind their actions. Just note that your character cannot run around and do a bunch of crazy things like stabbing and shooting Balston members just because they do not like them! (Besides, if you would even be interested in a major plot that affects the site like that - it would have to be accepted by staff)

Anyways, moving on from the violence, understand that it also is completely up to the staff (as it is realistically for colleges when accepting students) as to which college your character will attend. There will be no whining or bickering on your part, correct? ;) It's what makes the site more interesting; not knowing where your character is going to go.
Please don't build a character around a college stereotype, either. Make your character what you want him or her to be.
