Jeremiah let his backpack slide down his left shoulder into his hand, and dropped it on the Pier's wooden floor. He unzipped it, tugging out a notebook and pencil. His camera dangled around his neck, stark black against his white t-shirt. He tugged his khaki shorts up, groaning at the realization that he'd lost more weight again. Being a very active guy, he hiked all over the place and, though he ate alot like any normal teenage dude...he still managed to lose a few pounds every now and then.
However, he was still quite healthy, and was currently enjoying the salt breeze. He lowered himself easily to a sitting position, his legs hanging off the edge of the Pier. Jeremiah tore off a sheet of paper, and scribbled down "Pier - summer 2011". It was a list to keep track of the photos he was going to take.
Lost in thought, he set the paper next to him and turned on his camera, lifting it to focus on a seagull. Jeremiah didn't heed the breeze whistling around him, and saw a flash of white out of the corner of his eye.
His sheet of paper went tumbling off the Pier.
Jeremiah stared down at it in disbelief. It was clinging to a nail on the old, barnacle-covered wood. He sighed, setting his camera on the wood, and reached down to grab it. His fingers barely brushed it, and he bit his lip.
"Maybe..." Jeremiah gritted, stretching his arm to its full length. "Maybe I should listen to that stupid little voice in my head that tells me this isn't such a good idea..." For Jeremiah wasn't exactly the most...graceful person in the world, and was rather accident prone.
The paper fluttered, threatening to fly off, and Jeremiah lunged for it. And in the process, slipped off the Pier. He tumbled down into the water with a crash, and his head popped out of the frigid dusk water.
"Aw, shit." He hissed, but chuckled in spite of himself. How ironic.
Jeremiah began to climb up the ladder which was fixed to the side of the Pier, shivering. He plopped down on the deck, gasping. His dark hair was made darker by the water, and flopped into his eyes. "Gosh darn it." He rolled his eyes at himself. Hopefully, no one had seen his blunder.

I don't know if you have noticed anything different Angela had been sitting on the pier almost the entire day. She loved the breeze and smell of salt and the beautiful sound of waves steadily flushing onto shore. She had her eyes closed most of the time and the rest of the time she looked at the horizon. It was so beautiful at this time. The skies were still bright and blue, but just near that horizon you could catch a glimpse of orange color. You might not notice it if you weren't looking properly. But Angela did. She noticed every detail and every single change in the beautiful sky. It kept her mind from wandering to less happy and ''beautiful'' matters. She caught herself thinking of the last time she'd been right here on the pier. She smiled a broken smile by the thought. It was such a long time ago but still fresh in her memory.
Her line of thoughts was disturbed by a young man fumbling around and talking to himself. She couldn't help but smile a little by it. She got up on her feet and wandered to him just before he fell into the water. She gasped with a hand in front of her mouth and leaned slightly over the edge and was relieved when she saw him intact.
”Oh my God. Are you alright?”
she asked him quickly when he was up the ladder and in safety. She kneeled down by him and smiled a little when he rolled his eyes. It did look kind of funny in fact. But she wasn't about to shout out a teasing comment before she was sure, he was alright. ”Jeez.. You could use some dry clothes” she pointed out and smiled friendly down to him. [/blockquote][/blockquote] it's getting dark, and it's getting cold and the nights are getting long

The girl who had been sitting on the Pier as well seemed rather alarmed, and as she knelt beside him his cheeks flushed red with shyness and embarrassment.
"Well, I suppose I'll live." He dryly remarked, standing. Water dripped off his body; he was soaked. Jeremiah groaned, and turned to walk several steps away from the girl. "Stay away, this could be rather dangerous..." Jeremiah warned, seemingly serious, and then shook his head. Sea water was flung from the tips of his hair, but probably didn't land on the girl. He reached down into his backpack, grimacing as water dripped onto his notepad, and pulled out a beach towel.
Jeremiah roughly dried his hair and his hands and face, and then extended a hand for her to shake, with an apologetic smile. "Not exactly how I wanted to make first acquaintances..." He sighed sorrowfully, but his brown eyes twinkled with humor. "I'm Jeremiah Grey. From Balston."
He couldn't help examining her a little; she had the prettiest, creamiest skin he'd ever seen. Her hair was cute, longish with some curls, and was a reddish color. Her eyes were almost the same color as that of the sea.
Needless to say, she was very pretty.
"Just so you know...I'm pretty accident-prone." He warned her. "Not that it isn't obvious anyways...but yeah. Just thought I'd warn you."

I don't know if you have noticed anything different She watched him a bit and followed him with her beautiful blue gaze as he moved away to shake the water off - it kind of reminded her of the way a dog acted after a swim or a trip out in the rain. She kept her distance still as ordered and not one single drop of water touched her skin. Not that it would have harmed her in any way. She wasn't all that touchy. She took a few long silent steps in his direction and smiled teasingly. "Thank you for the warning Sir. I would never have survived if the water got me!"
she said in an ironic teasing tone of voice. It wasn't harsh teasing at all - more a friendly kind. It was her way of breaking the ice. She laughed a soft and gentle laughter at his comment about the way they met. She actually liked his sort-of-awkwardness. It made her feel so much more comfortable than around those self confident ''perfect'' strangers. This one seemed just as down to earth as Angela herself. "Angela Griffin. Also a Balston" she greeted him and gave his hand a little loose shake. "Oh my! I would never have guessed that myself. Maybe I should run while I still have the chance?" she said laughing and teasing again in her own ironic sort of way. "Are you sure you're okay?" she asked again and tilted her head slightly to the side. She genuinely cared[/blockquote][/blockquote] it's getting dark, and it's getting cold and the nights are getting long

"I've killed many-a-person just by them looking at me." Jeremiah wiggled his eyebrows mischievously. He hadn't really expected her to be joking around with him; most girls just giggled as if they had no brains.
The girl shook his hand lightly, introducing herself. "Pleasure to meet you, Angela." Jeremiah gave her a magnificent bow, sweeping his arm out to the side dramatically. He straightened, his head tilting to the side ever so slightly. Come to think of it, he had seen her running around Balston this year; she must be a freshman. However, he didn't inquire about it because frankly, he didn't care. Who wanted to spend all their time talking about college? It was way too overrated.
"You probably should." Jeremiah rubbed his hands together evilly, then his eyes widened in mock surprise. "Oh, I think I must have forgotten to tell you I turn into a vampire at night." He checked an invisible watch, gasping in mock surprise. "Any time now. Are you partial to having your neck or your toes eaten first?" He inquired, the jokes rolling off his tongue with ease. Jeremiah thought about commenting that he "sparkled" when in vampire form, but decided not too. Maybe she was one of those Twilight fans and would jump on his throat about it. Haha, pun intended.
More seriously, Jeremiah added, "Yeah, I'm fine. " He twisted around to look at the back of his legs, grimacing slightly. "A little scrape or two on the back of my legs, but no biggy. Enough salt water should do the trick to patch it up." Jeremiah looked back at her with a lopsided smile.

I don't know if you have noticed anything different She couldn't help herself but to laugh - a sure sign of her feeling comfortable in his company. Not many were able to get her to laugh right away. Mostly, she would take some time before really getting to this point. But somehow this awkward way of meeting had helped tremendously. "Hmm.. I'm sorry, Sir, but I don't know if I believe that"
she said and let her fingers run through her long red hair. Most people with curls hated having them, but Angela was one of the few people who in fact LOVED having curly hair. but hey, they suited her so well, so why would she hate them ? "Pleasure to meet you too, Jeremiah.. maybe I shall see you some other time, when you're not about to eat me?" she said teasingly and winked with one eye, before glancing shortly to the water and sky. Still as beautiful as before. "Nah, I think I am going to take my chances.. As far as I know, I'm too cute for eating.. It's a bit like those beautiful cakes, where you don't dare eating it, because it is so pretty and you don't want to ruin it" she said and then put a hand in front of her mouth. She seemed to become quite the chatterbox at times. "We'd better get you into the saltwater again then! one.. two... three.. jump!" she looked at him with a glimpse in her blue eyes and made a gesture of being about to push him into the water again.. Of course she didn't do it. [/blockquote][/blockquote] it's getting dark, and it's getting cold and the nights are getting long

Jeremiah mentally pumped his fist; he was actually doing great so far. Besides; she'd laughed!
"How could you not?!" Jeremiah inquired, looking offended. "I am a most truthful person." He righteously inclined his head, elegantly.
"Oh, undoubtedly." He seriously nodded. "And you're right!" He explained, spreading his arms wide as if he were beholding a jewel. "And I'd have to object to that, however...you're a muffin. Not a cake. I am a cake." Jeremiah wiggled his eyebrows at her, joking, of course.
He feigned terror, and shielded his face with his arms, highly over-exaggerating the movement. "No! Don't do that! As much as I would looove this here wound to be healed...I get soggy and mushy when I'm wet." Jeremiah sighed, lamenting. "Most of the time. I didn't this time. But if I do it again, you'll have to scrape up my soggy mess."

I don't know if you have noticed anything different She leaned her head slightly to the side while letting her gaze wander up and down his body, thoughtfully. Then she just smiled and caught his eyes again ”I am sure you are! But you don’t really seem much like the killer-kind-of-person”
she said. Honestly, she did believe he was worth believing in. But she also didn’t think of him as a killer. ”Of course I am right! I’m one of those girls with lots of brain, you know!” she pointed out to him with her index finger raised a bit. ”As far as I know, Muffin is also under the category ‘cake’.. And here it is called cupcake”. Her eyes were teasing as she looked back to him and smiled yet again with her beautiful white teeth. She couldn’t help herself but to laugh at his overly dramatic reactions to her fake attempt to push him into the water again. She found it very funny to find someone she could joke around with like this. She had only met few people worth doing this with. Another plus with Jeremiah. She was pretty sure that she was going to meet up with him another time. Maybe even become friends with him. ”Ah, alright. I wouldn’t want to scrape that stuff up. It sounds rather disgusting really” she said – still joking with him of course. Even though it actually did sound rather well not-nice.[/blockquote][/blockquote] it's getting dark, and it's getting cold and the nights are getting long
