And you can tell everybody that this is your song It may be quite simple but now that it is done - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - Angela had spent most of her day on the pier getting ready for her quite smal gig. But for a girl like that every little thing would mean something big. And it was a good way to get her mind off of things. With her life being as it is she really did need things to keep her mind busy so it didn't wander to less happy subjects. She had put up a small stage, a microphone and her guitar and what was needed for it to be heard. Her and her sponsor had put up chairs for the audience and put up signs around the place to make people notice that she was playing. She hadn't played any big gigs yet but she took everything as it came. She was used to the 50-person audiences by now and today probably wouldn't be any different from that. However, Angela did have a few butterflies in her stomach. Not because she was playing in front of others but because she had called Claude yesterday and told him that she was playing here today. She was terrified that he was going to come and all in all she regretted calling him. There was no doubt that she still thought a lot about him and he had been her greatest support back then. But she should have let him be. She had thought about slamming her face into the wall to punish herself for calling him. Why couldn't she just let go of him ? She let out a sigh and straightened herself out. She let her gaze run down to her cellphone showing the time of day: 4.45 PM. So she had fifteen minutes before she had to play. People had started to come by and sat down on the chairs. It didn't take more than 5 minutes before half the chairs were filled.
Angela took the last few sips of coffee from a coffee cup and ran a hand through her slightly curly red hair. She had grown to be a much more mature beautiful woman by now. No more puberty-fat anywhere but a slim long body and face. Even her eyes wore the expression of a young lady. Some say that you are pretty through your childhood, ugly through puberty and then you have 5 years where you're perfect before things starts to go downhill again. If that was true – Angela had entered those 5 perfect years. She sat down on a chair and crossed her long skinny legs before unfolding a newpaper and quietly running her eyes over the headlines in the attempt of finding something of interest to read. Reading could always calm Angela down, whenever she felt like her nerves were killing her. It didn't take long for her to calm down again after reading an article about something as simple as global warming. She wasn't all that freaky about that. But something you heard of often that seemed that 'ordinary' helped her take things with ease. As if nothing was different for her either. She glanced over the audience as the last chairs was filled out and the clock said '5 PM'. She left her chair and moved up on stage, where she picked up her guitar and introduced herself in the humble gentle way she used to. Then she sat down on a high bar-stool by the mic and started singing and playing her songs. They all represented some feeling of hers or experience or event in her life. By most of the songs she introduced them to people telling them why and when she had written the songs. The ones that were most painful she said nothing about. They were still too painful. Most of those songs had been written on the loony-bin, when she first started to open up and express how she felt to the ones taking care of her. She couldn't speak of her feelings so instead she sang about them.
After one and a half hour, she finished up and thanked people for coming and listening to her. She told them that it ment a lot and that she hoped they had enjoyed it. With those words she left stage and got her money and a hug from her sponsor. It felt good to play her music for other people. It felt like with every gig she played more and more of the burden on her heart was lifted. Now, she had to look if Claude had been there. She glanced around trying to catch glimpses of peoples faces and hoping – and dreading – to see that one familiar face in the crowd.

cause behind its door, there's nothing to keep my fingers warm As of the day before, Claude had heard of a music gig a girl named Angela was going to have. First off, he really wasn't sure what the reason was behind her calling. The two had broken up three months before, so he figured by now it wasn't like she was going to be running up to him and crying. Not saying that she had before - but he had heard stories. He just figured the amount of time that had passed already healed some open wounds, but maybe not every. He didn't want to automatically assume she was just going to spring up the question of getting back together, but, at the same time, he couldn't be one hundred percent sure of what the entire point was. Saying that paranoid question wouldn't come up, the girl probably just wanted to keep in contact with him. Just to see how he was doing. He didn't see any harm in that, so he attended the event. Plus, what was he supposed to say, anyway? If he were to say no? Call her back and have an uncomfortable phone call? It was two months ago. Maybe just being friends instead of strangers all over again might be a better option.
Getting out of his old camaro, which he still questioned himself lately if he should even have the car for certain reasons, the surfer hopped on out and made his way toward the gig. The aged car had been a gift from an old friend - Conner. Some things happened that he regretted, and the two stopped talking. So, was keeping the car a bad thing? Maybe, maybe not. He had to have something to get around with, right? And an object wasn't necessarily a person. So it wasn't like he was holding onto anything. Ignoring those reccuring thoughts, he made his way through the crowd and into an empty seat - toward the back of the audience. And, there she was. She looked different, oddly. It was funny, seeing her now - up in front of so many people. When he first met her, she was shy to just sing in front of him. He clapped as did the audience when she finished each song, listening to them as the time flew by. He got up once or twice during the short show to get a soda, but, that was about it. He didn't talk much because he didn't exactly recognize any of these people. It looked like it wasn't an event for all her friends, but for fans and people striding by alike.
Getting up from his seat, with a pepsi in his left hand, he paused and glanced around - trying to figure out where Angie had wandered off to. Then, out of no where, her little red-head popped up above some other's, and her pretty eyes made contact with his. His face lit up, a white grin flashing her way. He walked over to the trash can, tossed the soda in, and then headed her way. Why was she so difficult to find through all these people? "..Angie?" He called for her, sliding one hand casually into his jeans while he watched her take on all the congrats she was getting. Was it okay for him to even call her that still? Stepping closer, he grinned again. Just trying to be welcoming. "Showed up!" He put one arm out as a 'I'm here!' kind of gesture. "I saw you up there since you started. You did really good. Recognize a few songs, too!" Quite the smooth talker, but, hey, he was just being friendly. She sounded a bit nervous on the phone. Plus, who would want this to be uncomfortable? He held out his arm again and wrapped it around her shoulders in a hug. "How you doing?! Been a while." "Can't believe you're up in front of so many people. Mad props to you, hardcore rocker." He breathed out a laugh. "Did you invite anyone else we knew? Or is this low-key cause you're bashful?"

And you can tell everybody that this is your song It may be quite simple but now that it is done - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - Her heart stopped completely when his familiar eyes met hers and unsecure of how to react, she smiled in his direction. Not a full toothy one but the corners of her mouth curled up in a sweet little smile, as she made her way between the crowds to get to him. It wasn't an easy job in high heels and people tended to fill out more space when they stood up and talked than when they were sitting down in rows. She took a few deep breaths on her way and his was of acting immediately caused for her to relax more. Even hearing him use her nickname through all the time did a huge difference. The moment she heard Claude's voice call out her nick name the usual feeling of comfortability around him occurred and she smiled a lot more welcoming and wider. There he stood in front of her. Tall and gorgeous as ever. Even though she wore heels he still seemed to be a little taller than her. It seemed like he was an entirely different person from the Claude she had known before but she did know that it was her who had changed gigantically. She had learned to confront the things she feared – such as playing her music in front of other people and taking contact to strangers. She still acted shyly around strangers of course but she did this thing with trying to shoot it away with tease and anti-personal words and all in all – she just seemed cute instead of shy and impossible. There was still things she did not talk about and tried not to talk about because it was too hurtful to bring up just yet. Now, her mind was completely focused on the beautiful boy in front of her, with those eyes she had been fascinated with from the very start. She couldn't help but laugh softly from the joy flushing over all her anxiety. ”Claude! I'm so happy to see you” she claimed with a smile resting on her lips as she tilted her head gently to the side. ”Thank you very much.. Ah, should've played that song we made back then” she said followed by laughter and a teasing twinkle in her blue-ish green eyes. She was so grateful that he understood how to get tall this going without the awkwardness she had feared all day. How anyone managed to be as easygoing as him was forever going to be a mystery to her. She hoped to get herself so well one day, that she would as easy to talk to as him. She hugged her guitar tightly towards her body as a lot of people needed to pass and therefore pushed a bit. She wouldn't risk dropping the guitar and it's over-plastered case. ”I'm getting better each and every day” she replied and smiled gently to him while hugging him back – discretely inhaling his familiar scent. It was a scent that had made her feel safe for a long period of time. It was incredible he hadn't run away as soon as he could back when everything went all wrong. She probably had been the worse kind of sappy girlfriend you could imagine. But loosing your brother – the closest person to you to suicide did the worst to you. She smiled gently to Claude and looked into his eyes yet again before giggling cutely from his ''compliment'' if you could call it so. ”Oh yes, Hardcore rocker with rivets, leather and all that. Of course” she said ironically and teasingly as an answer. It felt a bit stressful to be caught in between all these people. ”Nopé. Only you.. I didn't quite have the fairest amount of friends back here. But my former boss came?” she grinned before nodding towards a more quiet place on the pier, the cafe closest to them, as a suggestion for them to go there instead of standing in the middle of everyone's exit.
She moved over there and found them a table with two chairs, before settling down on one of them. ”How have you been, Claude? What have you been up to? Give me all the dirty details” she managed to say with that teasing twinkle in her eyes as she watched him settle down himself. She crossed her long legs and corrected her black and white striped top shortly followed by the beenie on her head. ”I'm really glad you came” she then got to telling him with one of those warm smiles she was so good at making. As one of the waiters came out and asked for their orders she asked for a coffee. She had gotten quite the addiction to coffee lately. But she figured that a hunger for coffee was better than nicotine or alcohol or what worse – drugs. With all the things she had been through you would think a drug-addiction was pretty close. But no. She had seen too much terror and chaos due to drugs that it kept her away from it. Instead she was the sensible girl she always had been. Nonetheless she was more open to the whole partying scene than before. It was the perfect place to have a good time without getting too personal with people. And she had found out just how lovely alcohol was when you need to open up to people.
”Are you still a Balston-kid?” she asked him and tilted her head gently to the side as she sipped some coffee up from the cup and watched him curiously. If he was, there was a slight chance that she'd see him around every once in a while. She wouldn't mind that all too much. ”And do you still surf all the time?” she asked with a laughter and tease as she leaned back in the chair. She acted really casual around him and she pretty much were. She was of course careful with what she said and all that but she hid it very well around people.
