YOU WOULD NOT BELIEVE YOUR EYESif ten million fireflies lit upTHE WORLD AS I FELL ASLEEP Honestly, drew was happy to be leaving the house soon. Stoked you could say. Ever since he got into Balston, he hasn't hardly been able to be around his parents for more than five minutes. And that's very hard to do when you're under the same roof. Yes, Drew was still with his parents because they wanted him to stay with them since they were far from campus and that way they could make sure he was doing good. Surprisingly, they haven't cornered him yet, probably because they just assumed he had gotten in to Luxford. However, they assumed wrong, very wrong. Lucky for Drew, Haley was home so his parents were occupied with her and her new boyfriend that she had. All Andrew knew was his name: Josh. He seemed like a nice guy, and Haley sure seemed to like him and by the way he looked at his sister, he was head over heels for Haley.
They were all sitting at the kitchen counter conversing and laughing. Drew sighed as he stood watching at the bottom of the staircase, his camera slung over his shoulder. He had plans to meet Emilee at the bonfire tonight, and that's exactly where he was heading at the moment. He began walking toward the door to leave when his mother spoke. "Andrew, where are you going? You're sister is home and she has a guest."
The brunette boy stopped, hand wrapping around the doorknob. He turned his head and replied, "I'm just going to meet a friend. I've had these plans made for a while." He turned the knob. "When are we going to meet all your college friends?" Again, he stopped. Sighed. "Soon, Mom." And with that, he was out the door before anyone could ask anymore questions. "HeyBrother, wait!" Drew heard Haley run after him. He came to a halt and spun around to face his sister. "What?" he hoped he didn't sound irritated. "Is something wrong?" Drew rolled his eyes and sighed. "Nope. Am I free to go now?" Haley frowned at him and crossed her arms. "Are you sure?" she asked. "Haley everything is fine." And he was being honest. He was making friends, going to school, to him, everything was good. However, it probably wouldn't be for his parents once they found out. "Okay. Just checking. I only wanna make sure my little bro is doing good." she told him, reaching forward to ruffle his hair. "Stop!" he said, pushing her arm away. They stood there for a moment before Drew spoke. "Well, I'm gonna go now." Haley nodded. "Yeah, well I'll be here for the next few days and I'd like it if I could see you a little more than a few short minutes." Drew grinned. "Yeah. I'll be back later, don't worry," he reassured her. "i'm gonna go now. See ya." Andrew then turned around and headed toward his '68 mustang. He yanked open the door, turned on the ignition, and drove out of the driveway in the direction of where the bonfire was located. Once he arrived, he saw just how popular a hang out this was. There were a variety of cars parked everywhere, and even more college kids. Now all he had to do was find Emilee. With your hand in mineYou stroke my fears away - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - The young redheaded girl from Balston had been very stressed for a few days because of her upcoming acrobatic show. She had not quite finished her routine yet and the music just didn't want to do as she wanted it to and the location had showed to be a pain in the ass to clean up and fill with chairs. All in all, it had been one big chaos and her stress had been too much so she ended up snapping at her friends and all. One of them was Andrew who then kindly had suggested for them to go to the bonfire so she'd relax a little bit before the show so she didn't fall and break her neck before it. And of course she had thought of that as a good idea. This day she had spent time finishing the routine and she was proud to say that she didn't have to do anything more than work it into her head and make it perfect. And she had finally trusted someone else with the music and had a few big guys carrying the chairs into the huge place with high ceilings. So now she could allow herself to have a relaxed evening with a boy she had grown very fond of lately and in relaxed surroundings around a big bonfire.
Emilie picked up her backpack from the floor in the study area at school to hear the other people complain about her leaving so early. She threw them a big white smile and a wink before telling them that she had finished her part of the project and the rest really wasn't up to her. She said that in a cheerful teasing voice of course and everyone knew it – she wouldn't be able to NOT help them if they didn't finish up in time. She was just too sweet and caring for them. So she swung her backpack over her shoulders and moved to her room in the dorms where she got into some better clothes consisting of a pair of black jeans and a white t-shirt mixed with a hell of a lot of colored bracelets, her red converse all star shoes and a red loop in her already bright red hair. She quickly checked out her make up and the red curls before nodding to herself, picking up her back and walking all the way to the bonfires. She had not yet found the money for a car so what she did have was her feet and with her athletic training on a daily basis it wouldn't hurt her one bit to walk that far.
Finally, Emi got to the bonfire and watched the many cars and young people spending time there. Some way she hadn't quite expected it to be that crowded – but she had to admit: during the summer this was the perfect group activity! She had always been fond of bonfires and during her upbringing, she and her fellow circus-freaks had spent many nights sitting around a fire; wrapped up in blankets and all 30 people around one fire enjoying the simple gift of conversation. Every once in a while someone would have a show of some sort ready to show them all and they would laugh or weep or simply be fascinated. They were good at showing their feelings in circus. It had been a blessing to grow up among them.
Laughter sounded somewhere a short distance from Emi and it caused her to turn around and take a curious look. But before she even got to see the funny thing that had happened she saw Drew in front of her obviously looking too. She raised one hand in the air and waved at him to make him notice her in the crowd – a pretty easy job, Emi's appearance taken into consideration.

YOU WOULD NOT BELIEVE YOUR EYESif ten million fireflies lit upTHE WORLD AS I FELL ASLEEP Andrew was focused on making this night fun and stress-free for Emi. Since she was an acrobat in a circus--which was so awesome--she was stressing over her next performance because she hadn't quite came up with a routine yet. And this caused her to snap at Drew a few days earlier. He definitely could've freaked on her and snapped right back, but he took a breath and decided he shouldn't. He realized she hadn't meant to, it was just the stress. So, instead, he suggested as politely as he could through clenched teeth as he held his fists tight to his sides that they go to the bonfire tonight. He had heard it's a pretty popular thing and he figured it'd be a good way to relieve Emilie of her stress.
Drew had never actually been to a bonfire before in his life. A campfire, yes, but he heard that bonfires were much different. The fire was larger, that was a definite difference. So I guess you could say he was pretty excited. He really hoped it'd be fun, not only for him, but for his friend. And if it wasn't, he would be sure to make it fun for her. Even if they had to leave, or go to even greater lengths, he didn't care.
When the freshman arrived and stepped out of his mustang, he honestly hadn't expected there to be as many people as there was. People, yes, he expected, but this crowded? No. So these things are popular, he thought to himself, scanning the crowds of people mingling with each other around the huge fire in the center. Then he remembered he was looking for Emilie. He blinked and began searching for her when he suddenly heard a chorus of laughter somewhere in the crowd. He turned his attention toward where the noise had come from, wondering what had caused the laughter. He saw a couple of preppy-looking guys had dumped a bucket of water on some blonde girl who was now soaked. The boys obviously thought it was funny, so they laughed, and were now high-fiving, which meant it hadn't been an accident. The girl flipped them the bird and began cussing at the two, punching one in the arm, and slapping one across the face.
Drew shook his head, then looking up to see Em waving at him to get his attention. It was then that he wondered how long she had been standing there waving. He hoped not long. The brunette rushed over to her, pulling her in for a hug. "Hey! How's it going? Ready to have some fun?" he asked her, giving her a grin, showing off his pearly whites. If you saw the two together, you may think they are way too different to be friends, however you'd be wrong. Drew considered Emilie a very good friend, one of the first people he met at Balston. He thinks she's a cool girl, and if anyone ever tried messing with her, Andrew would be there. He's quite defensive over her. He hated when people were mean to her. "How's the routine coming along?" he then asked, folding his arms across his chest, waiting for her to answer.

With your hand in mineYou stroke my fears away - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - She had felt relieved of the thought of getting this quiet end easy night with Drew. He was quite good at making her relax whenever she felt like everything was stressing her and even though he could choose to just snap right back at her and tell her to back off, he didn't. And for that she was very grateful, because she never meant to hurt her friends or so. It would kill the girl to know that someone had gotten mad at her because she snapped – a thing she didn't do a lot. Only in times like this with shows and so. And being all alone with planning it all and getting it done, she sometimes felt like there was no way she could handle it. Hopefully, she'd become a part of a troupe in the future or so. Then they would help her just like she would help them. If she couldn't become a part of a troupe ( And her big dream was the cirque du soleil ) she would probably say goodbye to the dream of becoming a pro with the aerial acrobatics. Maybe she'd teach lessons or so instead. But in the first place she would fight for her career and see where it brought her. In her mind, the boy she had grown fond of, would never see her as anything more than a close friend, so love was probably not something that would hold her back either. She had her mind set on enjoying the night and thinking of everything else tomorrow. That was probably the easiest solution. The redhead shook her head at the sight of the two boys throwing water at a blond girl. It was obviously not just an accident and she seemed to be pretty pissed at them. The first thought that struck Emi was that it was from two different schools. Balston and Luxford. They both seemed to be hanging out at this place but in two different groups. The whole school vs. school drama tired her. One of her very best friends was from Luxford and they had hoped to be putting up an exampel for all the other kids.. But all they did was just mock and complain about the friendship. Nonetheless, Emi stayed in different – if she wanted to hang out with someone, she'd do it. Even though it was one from the other school. Luckily, no one could tease Drew and her when they both went to Balston – even the same year! Lovely to have at least one friend where no one would tease or complain about anything. She moved closer to him and smiled when she was pulled in for a hug. She hugged him right back and nodded. ”All fine, thank you! And I am soooooo ready to have fun. Really, I could need it”
she replied with a firm nod again and a smile embracing her soft lips. ”I'm all done! No more changes to be done. High five!” she held up a hand in the air for him to slap but just before he could, she moved it and messed up his hair instead. As she did that, a teasing glimpse was to be found in her brown bambi eyes. She laughed out a little and shoved him gently to the side, before taking his hand and moving towards a free spot by the bonfire instead. ”How are you, tough guy?” she asked him teasingly, as she let go of his hand and sat down on the ground and watched him with curious eyes. ”And what have you been up to? Give me all the dirty details” she furthermore asked him and wiggled her eyebrows slyly at him, all in her joking ways, that is. A couple of people from Balston came over to them too and the air was filled with a sweet low buzz of voices talking and the scent of the smoke from the bonfire. It was all good and it made Emi feel secure and safe. No one to harm her because people was sitting peacefully around her and Andrew was right beside her. In some way, he was her guardian angel. Whenever someone was mocking her or treating her badly, he was right their to help her. She leaned her head on his shoulder and watched the flames a little. It was all in friendship of course. She was the kind of girl to hold hands, hug, kiss and cuddle with her friends and Drew already knew that. So obviously, he would know that she meant nothing great with it. Just a simple gesture of faith and trust. ”What should we do?” she then asked when she felt like she had too much energy to just sit there and stare. She jumped to her feet and reached out a hand to him. ”something fun!!” she demanded childishly but with the smile curving up her lips at all times. YOU WOULD NOT BELIEVE YOUR EYESif ten million fireflies lit upTHE WORLD AS I FELL ASLEEP After the whole event of the two guys throwing water at some blonde chick, Drew figured it had to be a Luxford versus Balston thing. However, he didn't recognize any of the three people so he wasn't too sure about it. Otherwise, if that wasn't it, he guessed one of the two boys were trying to flirt and got his buddy to back him up, but by the pissy look on the girl's face, it didn't seem to be working out so well. Anyway, back to the school versus school deal, Andrew didn't quite understand it. The hatred between the two seemed to solely exist on biased opinions, stereotypes, and rumors. Although it may be just a bit more than that, he still thought it was stupid. That was why he applied to both schools, honestly because he didn't care which he got into; he was ready to be happy with either one. However, the rest of his family--including his parents--attended Luxford. His mom and dad were dead set on him going there as well, and they were positive that's where he was gonna go. They weren't even aware he applied to both colleges. Anyhow, they think he's going to Luxford. Why? Because Drew is scared to tell them that he chose to attend Balston. He's aware they're going to find out sooner or later, but he just doesn't know how to tell them.
Andrew shook himself out of his thoughts. He returned his attention to Emi, hugging her, and her hugging back. He listened as she spoke. He replied, "Well good, 'cause that's exactly what you're here with me for!" He gave her a friendly smile and winked. He was relieved to hear that she was done with her routine. "Awesome! Do I ever get to see it?" he asked, preparing to high five her, only for Emilie to fake him out and ruffle his hair before he could reach her hand. "Hey now!" he explained, attempting to move her hand away from his brunette hair, only to be shoved to the side. He glared at her teasingly, pointing and wiggling an index finger at her red-haired head. "Yoouuu..." he said. But when she laughed like that, he couldn't stay in character for too long. It was just so adorable. Before he knew it, he was shaking his head, a smile full of pearly whites was slowly embracing his lips.
Not long after, she grabbed his hand, guiding him closer to the bonfire and taking up an empty spot in front of the warmth. "How are you tough guy?" she asked Drew before letting go of his hand. They both took a seat on the ground. "And what have you been up to? Give me all the dirty details." Andrew grinned, thinking about his answer for a short moment. "Well, and I know this is gonna be hard to believe, but pretty much nothing except for school work. And hanging out with you, of course. My sister Haley is home though, and she brought her new boyfriend, Josh. I was kind of glad 'cause then I wasn't forced to stay at home and chat it up with my parents all night. But yeah, I'm boring I guess. The only none boring part of me is you, Em." He smiled and winked at her. What could he say? He was sweet, charming, and it was in his nature to flirt; he just couldn't help it. "Oh, and speaking of you, my mom was saying how she wants to meet some of my college friends soon," the boy added, a slight frown appearing on his face. It wasn't that he didn't want his parents to meet his new friends, but it was the fact that they didn't know that he was going to Balston instead of Luxford, therefore meaning that some of his friends weren't going to be from their alma mater. Although, he did have a few friends from Lux.
After a while, some other students from Balston joined them by the fire. Laughter and voices, along with the crackling of the wood burning in the fire, filled the air. In a way, it was almost relaxing. Then Emilie leaned her head on his shoulder, which didn't surprise him at all. He knew her well enough to know that she liked to hug and kiss and hold hands whether it was just friends or not. And he was okay with that. He wasn't exactly looking for a girlfriend or a relationship currently anyway. He just didn't wanna worry about any commitment issues right now, not that he wouldn't be a committed boyfriend. Once Drew was dating a girl and things started getting to that point, it was her and only her. No one else. He rested his head on top of hers, closing his eyes for a moment, just listening to all the buzzing of noises around them.
Next thing he knew, Emi spoke, bouncing up from the ground to her feet, now standing in front of him. She held her hand out for him to take, which he did, jumping to his feet to join her. He put his thinking cap on. Folding his arms across his chest, he let out a 'hmm.' "Something fun, huh?" he asked, glancing at her for a second before putting his thinking face on. "Follow me! We're going on an adventure!" he exclaimed, reaching for her hand and caressing it in his, giving her no choice but to join him. Drew didn't quite have an idea as to what they were going to do yet, but he promised himself that he was going to make sure his friend had a fun night, so that was exactly what they were going to do. So down the beach they went, veering first toward the left, and then closer to the water. There was an idea brewing somewhere in his mind, he just knew it.
